Plessey Order Ace Strong MOCVD Reactor, Help MicroLED Production

Plessey announced yesterday (19) that it had purchased AIX G5 + C organic metal chemical vapor deposition (MOCVD) reactors from AIXTRON. Earlier, the company has ordered a reactor from Ace.——Micro/Mini LED


Price is committed to the production of next-generation micro LEDs using silicon-based GaN epitaxial wafers, and Essence's MOCVD reactor will enhance the manufacturing capability of its silicon-based GaN epitaxial wafers. The company plans to install the reactor at its Plymouth manufacturing plant (270,000 square meters) during the first quarter of 2019 and put it into operation.——Micro/Mini LED


The new Esqiang Reactor provides automatic cassette (C2C) wafer transfer module with two separate cavity configuration options for automatic loading and removal of 8x6-inch or 5x8-inch GaN epitaxial wafers in enclosed cassette environments. The current Ace strong MOCVD reactor can manually load 7x6 inch or 3x8 inch epitaxial wafers.——Micro/Mini LED


The new reactor's automated cleaning technology ensures that the equipment is in a clean state at each run, helps to reduce wafer defect rates and significantly reduces maintenance downtime. In addition, the new equipment has faster tilt heating and cooling and higher base unloading temperature, thus shortening the formulation time.——Micro/Mini LED


Price said the AIX G5 + C reactor could enhance the R&D capability of monolithic micro LEDs based on the company's proprietary silicon-based gallium nitride technology. The company's Micro LEDs, featuring ultra-low power consumption, high brightness and ultra-high pixel density, will have a potential impact on existing applications using traditional technologies such as LCD and OLED.——Micro/Mini LED
